John Best received his B.S. in Physics and Ph.D. in Applied Physics, both from Caltech. He joined the IBM San Jose Research Laboratory (now Almaden Research Center) in 1979. He has worked on various topics in storage technology since that time. John is currently the IBM Research Division vice president, storage, and director of the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California.
